Day One. 1-31-24
I was going to use this blog for creative writing. However, I'm far too interested in far too many things to keep it to just one topic. And currently, as I write this, corporation after corporation is laying people off in TENS OF THOUSANDS whilst reporting record profits.
As I am currently unemployed and fearful of what tomorrow brings for me (hopefully food, resources to pay bills, and a place to continue to exist!), these current hot button issues are effecting me strongly.
I was about to post something on my personal Facebook but thought better of it. Many may not understand. Some will argue that I'm just wrong. I'm not okay with being wrong. Not on this. No human being should be sidelined in favor of A COMPANY. NOT A SINGLE SOUL. We are used and abused and once that usefulness has ended, they care not if we're alive or dead. That's not right on any level. "It's just business!" Then business needs to change and change radically.
For now, I'll leave you with this nugget of which had been written but never posted. I believe it sums up my thoughts rather concisely.
If you're here and reading this, I appreciate you. I hope you have the day you deserve.
The unemployment rate is a misleading number because people will work shit jobs, any jobs just to exist. That existence will be saturated in depression, low health, and the question, "How long can I take this?"
Poverty is one of the leading reasons for all crime.
Read that again, do a search if you like.
POVERTY IS ONE OF THE LEADING REASONS FOR ALL CRIME.
Alongside social environments and family structures as part of the top categories where the root of all crime come from , poverty festers crime because people have no hope of a better life.
It is uniquely intertwined with social environments(poverty-stricken areas), and family structures that are dysfunctional because of the previous two.
The Tech industry alone is cutting tens of thousands of jobs. UPS is now laying off 12,000.
"But Mike, layoffs are pretty normal because of X, Y, Z."
If that's true? The normal needs to be destroyed. People's lives are being destroyed. And our government and the wealthy that control them (the wealthy don't really pay off our government, you silly heads! WE ARE THE ONES WHO PAY THE GOVERNMENT, HULLLOOOO).
I know that sounds pretty conspiratorial but isn't it at least lukewarm to the real truth?
The powerful and wealthy control our systems while the people pay taxes to keep that system running.
I wish better people were in charge. I wish money wasn't a thing. But we're nosediving into far worse dystopian versions of our present day nightmare. People who live a decent life and are financially stable, I know it's terrifying to think of losing that someday. That fear keeps you complacent. And that's exactly where they want you to be. Giving to charity is just NOT enough.
And unless "We The People" don't shut the fuck up about left or right or whatever it is this week. . . and work towards the same goal, a working, thriving democracy with an educated and informed society, then we're going to fall much farther than Rome ever could (thanks technology!).
It's nearing 1am. I'm still jobless, broke, depressed, pissed off, and suffering needlessly as are millions of people around the globe. We have enough resources and more importantly, we have the PEOPLE to make changes happen TODAY.
I will be most likely working for the evil overloads I despise and working for scraps but like i said at the beginning of this, I need to fucking eat.
