Worldviews from the Weird: A Summary of Sorts
I'm caffeinated, so I'm confident that I'm ready to write – or as nearly ready as I can be. And what, pray tell, is this old fool going to write about today?
I'll try not to be too heavy on the subject matter, but in short, I'll be discussing how I see the world and what I believe would make it a better place for every single human, animal, and plant. This is a subject I'm deeply invested in, and my passion for it knows no bounds. Despite many attempts to pretend or distract, my heart truly cares about this world and all its inhabitants. It's a bummer to realize that, no matter what you do, you have been built and created with no way of changing how you truly feel about everything around you. I've dabbled in drugs, alcohol, several variations of self-destruction, and partially advertised nihilism. These turned out to be ways of coping with the frustration of caring and feeling helpless to change that feeling.
Anyway, there is no real way to sum up what I believe and what I think needs to change. By nature, I'm a long-winded writer, but I've never, not once, been accused of being a bad or boring writer. I'm hoping this still holds true as we careen through my weirdness and ethics.
Enough preamble; let's get to the medium-rare flesh (lightly seasoned, of course. Now I'm hungry).
The world, as we behold it in this foul year of our lord, 2024, is a festering sphere of death, inequality, corruption, pollution, manipulation, unemployment, propaganda, poverty, and ever-evolving technology. To be fair, that's all the bad stuff that the villains on this global stage have enacted. "Villains? What villains?" you may be asking. I'll get to that; just be patient, please.
Kindness is another thing that is growing amongst humans and especially in the US, where, as a citizen, I feel it is sorely needed. Take a look at this poll from Gallup and decide for yourself: Gallup: US Position in the World.
The "woke" culture has been weaponized, and let's take a second to step back on what being "woke" really means.
Merriam-Webster has a definition of "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)." Being woke is good, for the most part. But why then is this being used as a weapon or a derogatory term? Propaganda, obviously. If the term is infected with negative connotations, some may shy away from not only being called "woke" but, by action, ensure no one calls them that at all. By its true definition, in my opinion, being woke is a good thing. Being informed and being aware of the world's problems... how the hell could that ever truly be a bad thing?
Look, at the start of this, I confessed a blog post was not enough to go into details on these thoughts of mine. I'll concede any of my points if I feel the evidence to the contrary is obvious; I have no issues with being wrong about something, I truly don't. I used to be like that, but I'm learning and growing.
In short, tax or make extinct the billionaire class, rid the world of ALL dictators, wrap the world in a global system to ensure all populations can live not only with the basic needs of daily living but with free education... if we did that TODAY... most of the problems will have been solved, and better solutions – solutions without much consequence (hello there, 20th Century! You're the reason we are currently in this mess!) because an informed and educated society is a happier society. When that occurs, things like greed will not be gone but greatly diminished. We need to care and love our neighbors and our communities. And then, from there, care and love for the surrounding communities. And so on and so forth.
We're all in this together, and those in power don't wish you to acknowledge such solidarity because then they are weak; their days would be numbered, and they know it.
I love you. Have the day you deserve.
At the risk of sounding like you, BIG SAME. It's almost uncanny how well you're able to put my thoughts to words. Keep em coming. 🤘🏽
